Artist Statement
I’m interested in the fetishization of old, handmade and worn objects as a response to the prevalence of glossy and perfect machine-made surfaces. I’d like to use this to create a physical experience that evokes the carnivalesque and feels almost like a crumbling sideshow theater.
Using video, wood, metal, and found materials, I play with how I think about materiality and the body, faulty systems and gauges, the physicality of surfaces and boundaries, and the seething and blooming that always seems to lie just beneath these systems and boundaries.
